Digital River is dealing with the conversion of a non-object-oriented system to an object-oriented system. They will be presenting their approach to this very daunting task. They will be discussing how they went about defining objects from their existing systems and sub-systems, the impact on a non-object-oriented development organization, language considerations, and the training and mentoring issues that arose while implementing an eCommerce System to object-oriented technology.
Speaker Information
Gary Howorka is CTO of Digital River. His areas of expertise include Distributed Artificial Intelligence, Organizational Decision Support Systems, and Multi-Agent Planning Systems. Some of the projects in which he is currently involved are New Commerce Architecture, BEA Weblogic XML/XSL, Object Caching, EAI, General Technology Strategy, Catalogue Management Software, and Oracle8i Objects.
James Pichler is Co-Founder and Sr. Director of Technical Development at Digital River, Inc. He is an early B2C eCommerce pioneer, specializing in transaction processing and security. He has published papers on Data Acquisition and eCommerce History. He is currently involved in projects involving EAI, Advanced eCommerce Payment Methods, and Electronic Supply Chain Systems.
