Object-Oriented Architecture
Presented by Kirk Knoernschild
We will be meeting in Murray-Herrick Room 304 at 6:30 on April 16th to hear Kirk Knoernschild discuss Object-Oriented Architectures. Kirk is a "hands-on software consultant" from Milwaukee who is "passionate about using leading best practices to build better software." He not only contributes to the development effort on large projects, but also enjoys sharing his experiences through courseware development and teaching, writing articles, and speaking at seminars and conferences. He is the author of Java Design: Objects, UML, and Process (ISBN: 0-201-75044-9), published by Addison-Wesley.
His discussion of Object-Oriented Architecture focuses on traits of a robust, resilient software architecture, including application layering and the primacy of high-level architectural views. We selected this topic over possibilities such as "Inheritance: a Reuse Nightmare" and "The Foundation of Patterns" because at last April's meeting, members requested more emphasis on architecture, and it's been a while since we've had a speaker on the topic.
Kirk Knoernschild is a Senior Consultant with TeamSoft, Inc. where he specializes in providing high quality training, mentoring, and consulting services in Java and Object Oriented Technologies. His first book, Java Design: Objects, UML and Process, will be published by Addison-Wesley in early 2002.
