OTUG Meeting Announcement

The August OTUG meeting will be a time for elections and reflections.. We will be electing new officers to the Board

Stephen Thompson is running for treasurer uncontested,
Pam Rostal is doing the same for secretary
Randy McLaughlin will stay on as web editor
Dave Levitt will assist Arun Bachu with the newsletter
no candidates have stepped forward for either president or vice-president..

This last point is the reason we have a need for reflection we need to decide how or if the group will continue to operate without a president or vice-president. -

Will members volunteer for 1-3 month terms?
Will the Patterns Group take over the room reservation except during
Distinguished Lecture Series? (We're in Murray-Herrick Room 155 for every month between December of this year and May of next year, and have OEC for August through November.)
Is the social gathering for pizza and discussion adequate to keep members attending or do we need speakers, etc.?

Please join us on August 20th to make these decisions and plan out the next year. As always, we ll meet at 6:15 and provide pizza, but please note: WE WILL BE MEETING IN OEC Auditorium for the elections (MH 155 wasn t available.)

Also, mark your calendars for September 17th - Peter Shuh will be speaking about the role of the DBA in an agile software ecology. We're also trying to schedule distinguished lecturers for October and November. Stay tuned to the website for more information as it emerges!
