Synopsis
Brad Rubin will give an overview of some computer security issues that
everyone, from home user to IT executive, should know about. He will cover
areas ranging from password studies, selection, and management, the state of
cryptography, the real threats from broadband connections, and wireless
network insecurity.
Speaker
Brad is an Assistant Professor in the Graduate Programs in Software
Engineering at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN. He teaches
graduate courses on computer security and information retrieval, and
consults with industry on various computer security topics. He has a
doctorate in computer science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and
20 years of experience in the information technology industry, including IBM
in Rochester, MN and Imation in Oakdale, MN. At IBM, he was the lead
architect of the San Francisco Project, the world's largest Java effort in
the late 1990s.
