Summary

JavaServer Faces shows great promise as a way to greatly simply the life of Java Web developers. With Java Server Faces developers can:

  • Plug-in various reusable UI components in a page
  • Connect these components to an application data source
  • Wire client-generated events to server-side event handlers.
  • And much, much more...
Hear the latest news and developments in JSF from Adam Winer (architect of Oracle's ADF Faces component library) and Jacob Hookum (contributor to JSF)

Possible topics include:

  • Overview of JSF and ADF Faces
  • 'Web Tier' alignment: including JSP 2.1, JSF 1.2, and EL.
  • JSF Facelets and some of the advantages that it provides in relation to JSP and Tapestry.
  • Integration with other open source frameworks such as Spring, EJB3, Struts (Shale), and Velocity

Speakers

Adam Winer is currently the architect of Oracle's ADF Faces component library and has been developing and designing UI frameworks for more than a decade. He has been the Oracle representative to the JavaServer Faces expert group since its inception.

Jacob Hookom is an architect with McKesson Medical-Surgical where he designs supply management solutions for multiple markets and platforms. Recently, he was highlighted in the JCP anniversary newsletter for his contributions not only to JSF development, but also the expert group where he is helping to orchestrate the alignment of JSP and JSF for J2EE 5.
